We are living in the age of smartphones and 24-hour hyper-connectivity. Smartphones have become an expression of who we are: our choices, interests, and fears. Smartphones are now miniaturized microcosms that allow us to live our lives.
Our EMF radiation assessment work often asks for cell tower audits. Yet, we see people carrying a miniature cell tower with them 24 hours a day – their smartphones. Our estimates show that your radiation exposure from the cell tower is less than 20% of radiation excesses. Your smartphone accounts for 50% or more of your excessive exposure to EMF radiation.
Aim for two hours per day. This is the recommended screen time for our 5-2-1-0 program. Many of us spend more time on our phones each day. Americans spend on average 5.4 hours per day on their phones.
You may be trying to cut down on time on your phone, but you might have forgotten about cell phone safety. These ten cell phone safety tips will keep your family safe, both mentally and physically.
Cell Phone Safety Tips
We all talk about cell phone safety, but how often do we follow the right ways to use the device. We know that micro emissions from the device are harmful to our health, but still, we can’t resist the urge to keep using cell phones for longer and longer.
So, here are some cell phone safety tips that you must follow in order to lead a healthy and safe life:
1. You should keep your phone’s keypad locked and the passcode or PIN private so others cannot grab it and unlock it. This will prevent them from using it to get you in trouble.
2. You should not take or record any images or videos on your cell phone that are sexually explicit. First, any pictures or videos that involve nudity (or partial nudity) are considered child pornography and therefore illegal in all 50 states. It doesn’t matter what the parties’ intent is or if permission was granted. They also have the potential to fall for the wrong people. Consider your reputation.
3. It is a privilege to have a cell phone, not a right. It is a privilege. You will earn more respect from your parents if you appreciate that they allowed you one (and sometimes bought it for you). Because they misused social media and electronic devices, many youths have destroyed their futures (e.g., college admission, scholarships, job opportunities and legal costs, criminal prosecution, etc.). It’s not worth it.
4. You should not send text messages or take photos or videos on your phone that you don’t feel comfortable sharing.
5. All of the text, photos, and videos that you take with your phone can be saved and retrieved as digital evidence, even years later. These files may be stored on your phone’s Cloud account flash memory or SIM card.
6. Schools may take your phone if they suspect you are involved in a school policy violation or the law. Ask that your parent is present when you give it.
7. Never text and drive. It is not worth risking your life or the lives of others by sending a text. You should pull your vehicle to safety if you have an urgent matter.
8. For security reasons, only give your number to trusted friends and family.
9. Consider how you would feel if your text or the photo or video that you took were shared across the school and the Internet. Even if it’s not something you send, others may.
10. Do not respond to messages from unknown numbers or people you do not know. Please find out how to block certain people (via their cell phones numbers) from reaching you. You don’t have to be subjected to mean or immature people. There are easy ways to stop them from contacting you.
Wrapping Up:
If all this doesn’t convince you enough, consider your phone as a mini microwave you keep with you at all times. You may be able to take a more responsible approach to it.
You should be well aware of all the side effects that come with the constant usage of cell phones. You can share this post with your friends and family in order to aware them of the same. Everything used in the limit doesn’t cause any harm. So better take care of it.
